Hello, all. I took interest in building just last year when COVID-19 was new and keeping me bottled too much. My son wanted a go kart so I constructed an electric one with Power Wheels motors and some wood scraps from the garage. It went about 10 mph and could only hold 150 lbs but it kept him happy until the motors retired. Although I have since bought him one. My budget won't quite place a sand rail in my driveway but I want something that actually has leg room for someone between 6' (me) and 6' 5" (my son), so I figured I'd do another build in the garage that let's me have what I want. This summer is about doing more outdoors. I can't think of much better than taking an idea and turning it into a working, safe vehicle.
That's where the "glad I found you all" earns its place. There will be hiccups along the way. I'm pretty good at working through most issues, but lessons learned by others are always welcomed. Hence, I'm glad I found you all. Stay safe and happy karting!

try the "arachnid" single seat buggy. I am currently puttting the finishing touches on one. I've got about $1200 into it. The plans available for $40.00 on line say the completion cost should be around $1600.00, but with a little craigslist and scrounging you can build it for less. A little welding skill and some ingenuity and you can have a single seat sand rail ( full suspension and all )....ifyou search arachnid...on this site you will see pictures...or go to youtube and type arachnid and you wil see that it's a fairly popular build.

Thank you Crucial :cheers2: ....19K M1A1...was always with ACR....so we had ya'lls backs

It was amazing how quite firing the maingun was inside the tank....but outside 🤪

I was loading for another tank during tank table XII.....sitting in a hide position battle carrying sabot..TC "says bansil watch where White 2 hits, let us know if we need to pickup his target"....as an E3 driver...playing loader...I said "yes Sir" (new butter bar)

Next few words?

"Identified...Tank direct front 2500 meters"
"Gunner...sabot tank"
"Driver move out, driver stop"
I dropped down, armed gun, yelled UP!
AND, proceeded to climb back out of the loaders hatch and grab the bino's...to watch for our wing tanks hit.
"Identified "
"Fire!"
"On...the...way...!"

Yup, cvc was ripped off my head and since I was holding binos, I ended up on the floor beside of a hot aftcap.....:roflol:

Sorry for hyjack....OP.....memories :p

Too funny! I take in all stories. I was firing from a bunker in 02 with plugs and muffs on because I knew how brutal that enclosed space was on hearing. I couldn't hear for 3 days and my ears never stopped ringing.
I was a 19D instructor my last few years and we were forced to share the range with the 19K class one day. We went hot and the DAT instructors decided to sandwich me in instead of using the rest of the firing line, obviously intentional. I opened the coax access doors to charge it and they both fired, something else obviously intentional, they just didn't expect me to be exposed. It felt like chow was getting sucked from my stomach through my mouth and nose. My CVC only stayed on because it didn't have room to come completely off. They said they couldn't understand why I was so bitter.
