I've seen a lot of people trashing or thrashing them, I happen to be a thrasher with an insatiable love for the fiberglass platform. (Love hate more or less) Can't weld anything to em but can weld what's with them! I broke my steering column took two hours with breaks and pouring water to keep the fiberglass cool, after I burnt through originally a few months earlier which taught me a whole new game of patience battling trying to fix what I was left with I constructed this base! hoping to add more welds in smoothen it out and cover over it with some formed sheet metal. Never the less, I took it for around an hour and a half ride yesterday and it was more solid and reliable than the stock set up.
I've got a live axle rear end coming in for it, planning on making brackets with three inches forward and an inch back off the mounts to prevent axle wrap and such, replaced the Briggs with a predator 224 set the 3hp sport pack off to the side until the next project kart. Also got rid of the stock handles, I built I post for a hydro brake and added a clutch lever assembly onto the wheel.. planning on dumping the stock steering rod set up for a hemi joint adjustable rod conversion if I can find one that's not aluminum unless I adjust the cam lever that make the wheel move the steering rod.. but complicated but been a good project so far. 24 years old here, my time either goes into this, my 82 Granada or my 86 Bronco. Should be some good updates over the next couple weeks!! Super happy this website still has visitors and population! I'm in Youngtown AZ if anyone, and I mean anyone wants to start trailing around or trading things in the Phoenix area I'm trying to start a little local group here!
