Father and Son

What's going on? So it all started a few weeks before Xmas. A family friend told my wife and I that she was going to sale hes son's gocart b/c he would not take care of it (aka cover the engine up) and had been to the repair shop a FEW times. We got the cart for a 100.00.
It is a ken bar d 811 with a Tecumseh 60ohh. A family member told us they would fix what was not working before xmas, to make a long story short he I am!! It ran on xmas for a bit and stopped. So far my son and I have fixed the engine kill switch, Brakes, Throttle cable, changed oil, changed air filter, fixed steering, cleaned it up, regreesed front spindles, front wheel bearings.

Any input would be great!!

Welcome to the forum!! You say it is now not running? Tecumseh engines are NOTORIOUS for having carb problems, so that is probably what the problem is with yours. I would give the carb a good clean and see what happens

Thanks for the welcome landuse, in doing a lot of reading about these motors, I have came to that conclusion!! after I fixed the linkage from the Governor To the carb. It ran fine for a couple of laps around the yard
And then died, with oil coming out of the carb. My son told me that was the fastest it had ran....lol after that we tore it apart to fix the items I listed above. All that's needed is the linkage to be hooked up the right way, after reading about how the linkage should go, I had it wrong!!

I had oil come out of my 5 horse when I rebuilt it. I then realized I had the valve cover on upside down. Check that, it's easy to make that mistake.Oh....and that's probably all that's wrong with it excepting the carb is flooded with oil.
