even pool drain covers contribute to my outlaw status

I absolutely hate the "federally compliant" main drain covers that are "mandatory" these days because some dumb parent wasn't watching their child when he or she drowned in a pool by getting stuck to the flat drain cover causing the nation to go in to a panic and the government to overreact by requiring 2 drain inlets and raised covers. My reason for hating them is A: because the vacuum constantly gets stuck on them and B: because I'm supposed to have them. SOOOOO today I got down to business. Grabbed some old 1/4" aluminum drop from my winch spool cuts and fabbed up some of them old school, outlawed, "dangerous" covers. Now for those of you under the government's influence getting ready to tell me how dangerous this is, let me tell you, A: there are 2 drain outlets, so if my kid gets stuck to one, the path of least resistance is the opposite cover and she'll be able to get free B: my kids are always supervised in the pool and the pump is rarely on when they're in there. At any rate, the vacuum flies over them and I think they look expensive. I like.

Those lovely trees you see in the reflection of the water are my neighbor's and I get to clean their fallen leaves out of my pool every day!

It almost makes you wonder how any of us lived past age 12. According to the Government and stupid a regulations about everything! Good for you for figuring a logical solution as opposed to some unrealistic govt "solution" to a non existing problem.
Did you know the government requires a tag on a hair dryer telling you not to use while in the shower!

As far as breaths, the first one- many. The circle wasn't perfect and I had to get out of the pool several times, dry it and myself, grind it, and get back in. This process lowered my core temp despite an 85+ degree Phoenix day and my hands went numb. I ate lunch in the sun to warm back up and that took hours. The second cover, I made sure to compare against the old cover at the welding table and that was only 2 breaths, one to get the old cover off, one to put the new on.

As for chancer's comment there is a fantastic video floating around Facebook somewhat narrator style making light of the differences between our childhoods and that of today's kids- crazy.

Ok now I am gonna go off topic for you. I just saw your C clamp grommet fixer tool in the homemade tool section. Are you still "tarping" If so I have s great idea. Around here in San Diego we have a bunch of Indian Casinos. They pretty much use every billboard in town. The billboards are actually printed on heavy duty vinyl tarps. Longest lasting best tarp you will ever get. and they are HUGE. and the backside is white. Back to the Indians, thier ads are always dated with this week or months promo, So they are trash after being used. not like a Beer sign that just gets moved to another location. The sign guys will give them to you if you can catch them FREE. or for "outlaws" there is a chain link fence at the bottom of the sign and they store a bunch of old signs/tarps there so I just permanently borrow them. Then you add grommets and bam tarp tent.

I've heard Canadian warning labels must include disembowel potential over this. But I just read the whole article and it seems to indicate there was only a single main drain in that particular pool.

Funny they named our town Lakeside, but really it is just a small shallow pond. and we have a 4x4 Toyota Tundra, no winch necessary!

actually fluorescent bulbs can cause cancer... also it damages the eyeballs pretty badly.

as far as one breaking. just open up the space, all doors + windows, then step out for 4 hours.

Oh cool website, I did not know. I assumed like that big thing on the front of a jeep.
Anyway our "lake" here in Lakeside does not allow swimming or boating only fishing. and they do not even stock it. If you do fish it is for carp or small catfish.
