Engine running rich

Yea, this is the first time i've ever worked with a slide carb before, and when i took it apart to check why it was pouring gas out of the overflow i realized that the screw was for idle tuning. Since the bike is back together, and i didnt mess with the needle or jet at all im hoping it will run normal again with the stock exhaust. Also could the blackening be cause by the fact it burns a lot of oil?

Possibly, my briggs 5hp burned oil like a freight train but the plug always came out white because I beated that old manco like a red headed stepchild.

Try some heavier oil, you will smell gas in the exhaust if its rich.

I feel oil in the pipe, not gas.

ok so after cleaning the carb 3 times i got it to run right, sold it today, $75 and a polaris storm 750 thats stuck from sitting all winter, no seat, gas tank, track or skis, but the important parts are there (engine, both clutches, radiators, carbs, pipes) for the whole bike and engine.
