batteries

Dad loves his Jeep and is exploring the neighborhood, getting lost, finding his way and pushing the limits of the batteries.

Here he is heading out again after lunch:

As a reminder, it uses (2) 24v Kobalt (Lowe's) power tool batteries to power the 48v motor.
The 4ah batteries are $99 for a pair, while the 6ah batteries are $99 each.

So we have two pairs of 4ah for the Jeep, one pair in the power connectors and one pair in reserve in the storage box.

What range, speed, and drive time per pair of batteries does that give you may wonder?

Range: Over 3 miles at full speed, low range
Time: 45 minutes + continuous at full speed, low range
Max Speed: 5.5 mph in Low and 10.5 in High level on level paved road (actually middle level on the controller, I didn't wire it for the highest level) measured on my GPS Speedometer (phone app).

So Pop can take off and go 3 miles before changing the batteries.
He is loving the freedom it gives him to get out of the house and go places. :wai:

It's amazing what those little battery packs are allowing for range and topspeed. Great work!
