E175 scooter...how to test?

I picked up a razor E175 scooter at a yard sale.

when I tried it, all I got was a "click" sound.

I assumed it was the batteries low (or basically dead) but when I put it on the charger it finished in less than an hour.

Taking it apart, the click sound is coming from one of 2 black bricks on the ECU.

What Im wondering...is could a bad motor cause the ECU to make the noise, or does that noise indicate that the ECU is bad? I only paid $10 for it and the batteries seem to be good...so if I only had to put $20 into it to make it run that wouldn't be bad.

yeh, I figured that and tried. nothing. no noise from motor, only from the ESC. Clicks like a breaker.

Kinda wish I could test the motor. If I know for sure it works, then it would be worth $25 to buy a new ESC as that should be the problem.

thank you for your suggestion...because of it I decided to search for the manual online.
I read it has to go 3mph before motor will engage...I tested it going just a touch slower.

However, once I got the motor to engage (which should mean the ESC is good) it quickly came to a stop which most likely means the batteries are crap. The stock charger gives a green light...but Im going to put them on my other charger and see if that makes any difference. If it doesn't, Ill have to buy new batteries...but at least I know what it needs and doesn't need now.

I put both batteries on my charger,
then used a digital volt meter (from a power wheels project)
I got 13v on one but only 11.7v on the other.

Those batteries can read full but still not handle a load on them. Just get some generic ones off ebay

yeh, bought some last night. $25 shipped.
Couldn't the one reading 13v be good...but the dead one preventing it from even giving 12v to the scooter? If it were two 12v batteries in parallel then I would think one being dead would still permit the scooter to get 12v....but since they are in series I would think one being dead would prevent even the good battery from providing 12v to the scooter.
Ill have to test it in a power wheels. It is 1/3 the capacity of a normal power wheels battery, but if it is good why not use it.

If a fully charged battery is reading less that 12v, it's dead & won't have enough amperage to complete the circuit, draining the other battery in short order...

On another note, I have an E150 which acts the same way; replaced the ECU, no change; replaced the throttle, no change; once I connected some known good batteries it was fine...

that sucks you changed the other stuff first.
I might have done the same thing (bought new ECU) if I hadn't checked each batteries voltage with the volt gauge I had. That gave a story different from what the charger was saying.

I should have the new batts by the end of the week.
