I’m kinda bored and ready to start another project so my cogs are turning. Would it be possible to take a modded predator 212 put a 3d Motorsport clutch on it and be able to drift around on some 10 inch tires? I have no clue if it would work or not it’s just my thought process is that if you have a 6000 rpm 212 and a manual clutch you could maybe get them to break loose. I have a feeling you would hardly have enough torque even with a 5:1 or 6:1 gear ratio. Add a handbrake and it would make it more possible. Or maybe go electric and somehow hook a clutch to that.

Ya if I didn’t care at all about looks I’d definitely do that

😁 Maybe you can like two vastly different things at the same time? For me a set of "blingy" Azusa Tri-Star rims with 4.10/3.50-6 Cheng Shin "skinny" tires on a classic style kart is a sight to behold in the looks department. I like the similarities, the analogue, and the classic kart like our forum mascot up there at the top is just a scaled-down Porsche 912 or something. Modern cars are analogous to classic karts that are longer in the chassis than they are wide and tires in general are still analogous to those Cheng Shins as they are taller than they are wide.

Part of the fun is the peril as you are powersliding around a turn at the limits of control and sometimes losing control instead having the fattest, widest, stickiest, grippiest tires that can be had and failing.

Wanting fat, 15" wide rear tires and wanting to drift without PVC sleeves are basically two mutually exclusive things. Sort of like wanting to go snorkeling but you don't want to get wet. Just some food for thought.

Well I don’t need super fat tires tbh. It’s just 12 tall by 4” wide would look crazy in my opinion. I also have a perfect spot for a dirt track so that would be an option.

It’s more of a dream than anything at this point but I’m sure I will do some variation of the idea sometime in the future. I actually found a racing frame today for 300 or 500 with wheels and tires so the building part would be solved for me then.
