DIY mower using a differential

I hoped a fellow diy'r would think so. I have a large lot that takes forever to mow. I've used my dads tractor and bush hog in the past, or spent half a day with a my old riding lawn mower. Something like this could cut it down to less than a hour.

So I picked up this 8hp Montgomery ward hydrostatic lawn mower shell. Motor is old missing pieces and vertical. I'm debating buying hydraulic motors and a valve system and having it be hydrostatic driven like a dozer. Then build a Bush hog or one of these to mow massive amounts of grass. Having trouble deciding on the motor driving individual wheels or running a differential.
