Recently ordered a new Predator 212cc to take the place of my 5hp B&S Raptor. I mounted the motor and was ready to start her up, but noticed that the chain upon connecting to the "clutch drum" wasn't doing anything.

To clarify, if I yank on the chain, the clutch drum will spin however the clutch won't. How is the clutch supposed to spin the shaft if the clutch drum isn't spinning the clutch itself?

I'll walk you through what I did, maybe the pictures will help.

Here's what I started with:
-The Clutch
-Clutch Guard
-Bolt with two washers to keep the clutch components attached to the crankshaft.
-Two metal "stop-keyways" that sit in place of the keyway on the shaft. I seem to only be able to use the smaller one, because my clutch guard cannot fit on the shaft if I use the bigger keyway.

Fit the smaller stop-keyway into the keyway.

Slid the clutch over the stop-keyway.

Fit the clutch guard over the clutch and attached the bolt with both washers.

Now I just need to hook the chain onto the clutch...however, as I mentioned, the clutch guard spins but the clutch does not.

Where did I go wrong?

It is a "centrifugal" clutch. The spinning of the cranks shaft causes the shoes to expand. they in turn grab the clutch bell and gear, Causing the gear to spin, turing the chain and axle gear propelling the kart forward.

looks like you could use a few shims between the clutch drum and those washers on the end there.

Unfortunately the springs on the outside of my clutch that hold the shoes together wore out and fell off.

I just went to the hardware store and it seems they don't have any springs that'll work as a replacement. Looks like I'm in the market for a new clutch instead.

Any recommendations for use with the Predator 212cc? I came across this:

https://www.amazon.com/CENTRIFUGAL-CLUTCH-35-CHAIN-ENGINE/dp/B00FQQ2BHS

Side questions:

Is the chain supposed to go between the engine and the clutch? Or on the outside of the clutch?

Here you go. These are what I use:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Go-Kart-Min...3feb4c8&pid=100005&rk=4&rkt=6&sd=141707996252

Reference this ad and Call "Mike" Direct at 303 833 0491.
He is a good guy, He will honor the ebay price and free shipping. Calling him just saves him the 8% that ebay steals. I have used 4 of these clutches with no problem.

Looks like my current clutch has 11T. Is it OK just to transition over to 10T without changing my chain or anything else?

No My link was just a reference. He has several different clutches.
You will need to see what you have what you want and what you need.
5/8 or 3/4 shaft
#35or #41 chain
and 10-11-or 12 tooth.

I am just saying he is a reputable seller and easy to deal with direct.
