Now that I think about it, I had a thread where I showed a broken Gov. gear. Before I tore that engine apart, One of the first symptoms was... Hard to pull. Most likely was the same issue.
Plastic Gov gear bits in the compression release. By the time I tore mine down it had gotten water in the cylinder from sitting out side. I always figured maybe that was why it would not pull.
