So uhh... do you work on airplanes, or rockets or something? Hard to imagine a situation where one messed up part means you get fired unless they were looking for a reason to do so, regardless of how incompetent the management is.
it was for a fender mount on a truck, holes were off on bracket, stepping up 1 drill bit size on all 4 holes would have fixed it, or welding the 2 holes up real quick, and re-drill
Is there a buddy of the owner working there who you may have made look bad?
I got fired for repairing a machine in 8 hours that the boss's buddy usually took 24 hours to do.
He told me it was because I did not clean a radiator 'according to procedure'. I did a quick clean to get production up for the 15 minutes they needed to make it to a die change, when I would have had 4 hours to do a complete r&r.
heh heh heh, some people get butt hurt pretty easy, i was the only one there not family, maybe he was afraid of a possible lawsuit for how bad his treatment was getting, i truly felt he was on the edge of assulting me... though there would be no witnesses for my case...
That does suck and puts things in perspective for everyone including myself. Sorry to hear about that. I envy people who get to work with their hands for a living and a friend who welds for a living was just written up for a casing he welded that was .5" off the face of a home. He actually followed the instructions he was given but written up since he did not question the material. I do not envy that.
thanks ryan, it always turns into the "blame game", fabricating, even if you do what you're told, or follow the instructions, when things go wrong it's all on you
Jeeperjoel, sorry to hear that. I was once fired because of a lie told by a jealous coworker. It was devastating. Later, the boss figured out the truth, got a confession from the culprit and fired him, and called my house to get me to come back. I was not home, and the person who took the call intentionally failed to relay the message. She's gone, I found a better job, (after a couple of so so jobs to pay the bills), and I was able to recover well.
Sometimes it takes a while, but if you have a good work ethic and skills, you'll rise above the BS. As for the people who screw us over . . . karma sucks. Then you can just sit back and grin. It all works out in the end.
thanks tom, i guess everything happens for as reason, that's the way i'm trying to look at it... was thinking about jobs that have burned me in the past, most have seemed to gotten karma their way, one went out of business, one lost a store, one poor guy caught his wife cheating on him, severely beat the guy putting him in the hospital (think he got sued for that) she took off in a work van, hit another driver (lawsuit 2) then he got hit by lightning on a ladder, fell, broke his leg, ended up having to go incorporated to save business the sad part is he didn't really burn me, i mean i left on good terms... maybe it was somebody elses karma... the point is after i go, things tend to go wrong for places i've been, i don't wish ill will on this most recent awful place, but have been praying for him, that he gets the help he needs to overcome his severe anger issues, all pissed off all the time is no way to go through life, and when he wasn't mad could be a pretty decent guy.... thanks to all you guys, right now feels good to know there's people out there that care
... on a side note: just got good news, landlord (girlfriends dad) is giving me a free month's rent for putting a new water pump on her car... the catch? dodge stratus, water pump runs off timing chain, fun... oh well, not like i've got anywhere important to be!
