Dang, that's almost one to one. I have been wanting to get a torque converter too but didn't want to spend the money. I scored a torque converter off of a scooter at an auto dismantling yard today for $50!!! :drool5: It probably would have been cheaper but I couldn't remove it completely from the casing and I had to take the whole casing with me.

I know this is kinda :eek:fftopic: but I'm just answering 2 or 3's question.

There's quite a few auto wrecking yards not too far from where I live. Some about 45 minutes away but they sell the parts that you take out for dirt cheap. My friend was looking for a fender for a car that he's fixing up and he got it at the yard for like $25, in really good condition.

This past saturday, we got two 90mm throttle bodies off of some Q45's and an intake manifold to play with and only paid a little over $60 for all. Some of them have motorcycles too, which is where I found the scooter that I took the TC off of. My friend asked how much for a motorcycle engine and tranny, (which would need some work) about $150, they said. The more useless stuff you can take off of what you need, the less you pay. We were thinking of getting a 4 cylinder motorcycle engine sometime and using that for a future kart project. You guys should look into finding auto wrecking yards nearby. You can find some pretty good stuff for using in your karts.

Yeah, it is a little different, but I kept the shafts that they attach to so they will require some slight modification to apply them to something.

Tav/ ratios

You will have to go to a series 40 comet Tav , with a 11 hp motor, the series 30 is rated for 8hp max, as far as gear ratio, search the forunms here someone listed ratio info, I found out that I was running a 10 tooth sprocket on my tav and a 60 tooth on my axle, and wanted more torque, I now run a nine tooth sprocket and the 60 on the axle, this combo is a 1.66:1 ratio and she runs nice on the hills around here, and I don't think I lost much top end speed either! try checking comet or hoffcos web sites, they may have some formulas for ya!
