well was lookin scruffy again so out came the old conair buzzclippers and guides, like my hair a little longer than the clipper kit does, but has 3 weeks to grow out before xmas and have to see people... buzz buzz buzz... got to thinking about how long this has been going on... 4 years? guess so, but that's just since last barber visit, been doing my own cuts for quite a while, really only saves 10$ here and there, but every little bit counts i guess, it's the back that's hard, 2 mirrors... one slip and it's all over, gotta be careful, start on the top #7, then #5, then #3, then #2 working down, and those angled ones around the ears, use those to taper back too... maybe it's more about me being too lazy? or unwilling? to go to the barber shop, seems like a small waste of my life to do such a thing, even though it takes the same time to do it myself, or could be the 10$, it does play a part in the decision, been cheaping out wherever i can lately, more $ for projects... soap/bodywash, expensive, 5$ for a small bottle, i get dirty takes a lot to clean up sometimes, found aloe vera hand soap at 99 cent store, 99 cents/gallon, pretty good at getting the grime off showering, works as good as the palmolive i was using for a while, smells better too... 99 cent store rules, all kinds of ways to save $ there, cleaning supplies for me and my environment mostly, la's totally awesome spray cleaner, can't beat it, get candy there too, keep a box of assorted stuff on cpu desk, yeah, gotta have candy, been avoiding pre-prepared food as well, why pay someone to make something that in reality completely lacks nourishment most of the time, can cook pretty good, make food in mass quantity, chicken curry soup this weekend, made 3 gallons, froze most of it, work lunches covered for a few weeks, the list of ways to cut corners goes on and on, i don't see it as a sacrificing comfort to have more $ for projects, more like i'm beating the system i guess, or maybe i'm just cheap? who knows.

Every once in a while...I buy bottled water.....then I refill them from tap forever....

I broke down and got a haircut last month.....mainly to get the back shaped....I was disappointed with the results.....

I do have a weak spot for lunches through....I don't eat well unless I leave the job.....but I save enough on bottled water and home cooked meals to afford the occasional high priced lunch and a steady diet of $1 menu items and gas station hot dogs...

I'm the same way only I'm a bit in and out of jobs since I've been moving around... right now I'm out... looking for a 'real' job, but haven't had luck finding one that'll work around a college schedule. At least I have enough saved that I shouldn't have to pick up some minimum wage BS job until summer barring some unforeseen incident.

What I do to buzz the back of my hair is take the guide off and tie a rag like an upside down backwards bandanna, then use that line to cut. I used to have long hair but it's definitely not worth the cost/gas to me right now.

Also, anyone notice the mcdonalds dollar menu isn't a dollar menu anymore? The only things you can still get for a dollar are like a few cookies, a tiny soda or a tiny fries. The mcdouble (used to be my mcdonalds staple) is $1.39 now, past the tipping point of where I generally just bring my own food.

Still riding the bike to school in 30-40 degree weather too... I'm a bit proud of the fact that I haven't filled up the car since before the fall semester started :roflol:

I'm looking forward to next summer because a ticket falls off my record and my insurance should drop some. That's one of my major costs right now.

Through out my life my mom was the one that cut my hair. As I grewup and rebelled against parental decisions, I self taught myself to 'do my own doo', I preferred a flattop doo. Over the years, I got lazy and let the top grow, as I continued to shave the back and sides. Every 8-10yrs Ill cut the length off (just to watch friends/family members gasp... lol). To date, my record length is ~3ft (+/- 1"-2")... but have always been able to twist it up and tuck it in a baseball cap, to conceal the length.

My fondest memory of a persons reaction to my hair was when I went into an interview(w/ only 2.5' of length) for a job, w/ my hair tucked under a hat. After being hired, the boss lady wanted to see my hair, cause I had asked if my hair being long was gonna be an issue. As I pulled of the cap, and the hair fell, I could see her facial expression. LMAO... all I heard was, 'Oh my!'... shortly followed by... "Do you believe a male can be sexually harassed?"... LOL. Needless to say I only worked there for acouple months (it was a parttime job, just for extra $ for Christmas time)... but it was the funnest 2 months I ever had... do to my doo... lol.
