That Honda has a much higher quality engine than those cheap $100 pocket bike engines. and my previous comment went for Hondas/Yamahas with highly tunable CVT transmissions.

Good luck pushing more than 40 or so out of a fixed gear spree. You just cant get the clutch to bite off the line with any taller gearing, even with a tuned pipe, heavy porting, head shaving, carb work, and very stiff clutch springs.

I'm running a 47cc pocketbike with a tuned exhaust, ported carb with a 72 jet, HP air cleaner, and 6/68 gearing, plus a few other small performance mods. I can get it up to about 30, maybe slightly over .... If I changed gearing, I'd be doing better, but I wanted it to pull harder coming off the line and out of the corners. It certainly does that ..

However, all that said, it's nowhere near running in the same league as you guys. CVT's hook up faster than centrifiguls ....

The math was a lot off, probably something to do with the 77% I got on my final exam.

But I strongly disagree with all the animosity towards the little 50's. The Honda 50cc 4 stroke can't compete with out 50cc 2 stroke, both in terms of speed, acceleration, and reliability. Takes the smile out of 4hp Honda engined Hybrid 2's as well (Hybrid 2 is electric/petrol or diesel/electric). Thats a genuine Honda as well, not a clone. We've never had a mechanical failure. We get reasonably good acceleration out of our 49cc, enough to accel from 28km/h to 50 in about 3 seconds. The reason we start at 28, is for fuel economy, and because of the fixed gear setup. The rider pedal's up to 28km/h, then starts the motor.

I own a Honda spree 50cc scooter, I am VERY VERY VERY familiar with the moped/scooter tuning thing.

There is no way in hell an air cooled 50cc engine no matter how hopped up will push even a little 100lb bike(100lb including engine, a bike with fairings) will hit more than 55-60 with any acceleration to write home about.

If i had the money, i would prove you wrong. :cheers2:
