OK, this may not be an original idea...but while I'm new to the forum, for the past few years I've been contemplating building a mini-chopper similar to the Captain America chopper in the movie "Easy Rider." [OK, yes, I really AM that old.]
So I'm talking ape hanger handlebars, a sissy bar, all the usual visual stuff. But being over 50, I'm also thinking modifying it into a softtail, and doing hydraulic disc brake. The ultimate idea is to end up with something you might make street legal, possibly with a Lifan engine and transmission setup if the budget will allow. So I realize that specifies DOT-approved tires and rims, if nothing else.
Any thoughts/suggestions before I begin? BTW, I'm 6'1" and 300 pounds, so I want somehing I can ride.
