You are right, VERY popular down here in the koo koo state. My older brother rode it on a Maico 3 times. Finally finished it on the 3rd try. From what I was told it was a grueling endeavor. Easy to get lost and not a whole lot of help available. Haven't heard of it in quite a while. Do you know how long it went on for? Or maybe they still run it.

It ran from 67 until 74 IIRR. By 75 the green wackos got it shut down.
lt had gotten so big the powers that be put so many restrictions on it that the organizers had to downsize it. They had a “trail ride” for a few years, but then it just fizzled out. I rode it 4 years, twice on an Ossa, twice on a Husky.
Yeah it was a grueling 160 miles of some exhausting terrain.
So Pancho, do you go spectate @ the Hammers? Its in your backyard every feburary.
