Hello my name is Rodney. I'm coming from northern Ohio with a lot of questions and quest for knowledge. I am currently trying to build my first go kart for my grown self. I have the frame built already and I am trying to get it to the point of a rolling chassis for now so I could move it around a bit easier. I also have an engine from a Kawasaki kz305 csr that I want to incorporate onto this build. I also got an axle from a Honda 110 3 wheeler that was too narrow for my frame so I need a 40-45 inch solid axle(ANYONE GOT ONE FOR SALE FOR LESS)that I can incorporate into the sprocket and brake assembly from the three wheeler to retain the drum brake assembly. As you can see from the pictures I need to figure how to get the axle to fit into the axle housing on the rear. Another question: Does the engine that I got have the clucth built into it or will I need a torque convertor?

What bore axle are you looking for? MFG supply sells 1" bore keyed axles for about 40-50 bucks, and range from 30" to 48" long

here's a link

And yes, since that's a motorcycle engine, you'll need transmission. If you wanted a centrifugal clutch, with one gear, you'll need a small engine such as a mower or tiller engine. I just bought the Harbor Freight engine, which is like $120. Or 100 if you have the coupon code.

So what am I going to need to make this work. Am I going to need to change gears as I ride?
Yes, you will need to shift. I'm not familiar with that particular donor bike, but if you look closely around the shifter shaft, the shift pattern is likely cast there.

Welcome to the forum!

EDIT- In post #2, upper middle picture. Look right above "kawasaki". See the arm with the cable attached? That's the clutch arm. Pull the cable to disengage the clutch.

The upper right picture- lower right hand portion of the 'case- see the long splined shaft sticking straight out? That's the shift shaft. Twist right and left (with a linkage) to shift. I see the cover is missing there, so the shift pattern might not be obvious.

I got the axle

Well I got a axle off of Ebay for $37 shipped. Now I can at least get this thing to the point where I can roll it around.

THAT IS NOT A KH350!
(kh 350 are 3 cylinder 2 stroke engines, that's a 2cylinder fourstroke you have there)
this is a kh350:

shiftpattern is 1-N-2-3-4-5(-6?)

if you look at the shaft ccw is 1 cw 2,3,... ; to go back to neutral you have to shift DOWN
neutral is skipped if you shift up.
