I think a may have found an engine for tis mod, its a 1970 briggs 8HP cool bore judging by the amount of oil it burns, every gasket leaks, uses an old platnium car plug with a bunch of spacers to prevent fouling. Probably wont get it till the end of summer.

Its done it before and been ok (gov came unhooked, thank the FSM it didnt kill us). This thing is FAR beyond rebuild material, it would probably need more than a 30 overbore, new crank, rod, etc, a rebuild would cost more than the engine would be worth running good and not burning oil.

I gotta put up pics of the engine that will replace this one in the splitter. 12hp briggs, unknown date (estimated pre70, probably 50s or 60s, can find numbers on it anywhere, points in a box on the side of the block?????). Its strange, supposed to be 12hp(guy we bought it from said so), cast iron block, haven't ran it yet as the wiring harness on it is all messed up and i need to redo it to get the stater working.

I was thinking of that. Main reason I kept my bike I bought in 2nd grade and wanting a welder.
