has anyone taken the transmission off of a mt. bike and used it as a finale drive? like this- engine to centrifugal clutch to sprocket welded on to one side of the shaft to derailer/bike gearing on other side to derailer/rear wheel gears? any tips on working this out would be really appreciated thanx

we get questions like this all the time and the answer is no you cant use a bicycle gear system or chain on a go kart or minibike unless youre using a rediculously small engine like a 50cc or so because it snaps under a low power and a 141 or 135 chain {which is normally used on a minibike or kart} isnt flexible enough to be used on a bike style shifter so if you want to use some kind of shifting on your kart or minibike you can get a torque converter which will give you two gears or a two speed jackshaft found here

hope this helps

anyone thinking of using a bike chain should first look at a #35 sprocket and chain, my reaction was "holy **** that's thick"
