Hello from Manitoba Canada.
I've been lurking the forums for a week now but decided to introduce myself. While I dont currently have a go kart, almost all of the information overlaps with giant RC cars so thanks to all the people posting. If anyone knows any good online shops for parts located in Canada or ship to Canada with decent rates (China is fine) please let me know.
Also, Any other people from the Brandon, MB area?
Here are my project pics, all dressed up for Canada Day. This is more of a proof of concept build. I'm starting on plans for a new frame that includes all of the changes. It is currently using an old mobility scooter frame which I thought would work well but really doesn't.
We had to tether it while walking it around in town in case something went horribly wrong and it took off at full speed.
Here is a video of it driving around. As you can see, I added a TC to try and gear it down but the change was minimal. Because the tires are so small I'll need to add a jack shaft into the design to lower the speed. Even running the throttle just above the engagement point proved to be a very brisk walk just to keep up to it.

It didn't like the last jump and broke all of the spot welds holding the steering actuator in place.
