Get the Spider Karts Granddaddy plans. It’s a great kart. Lots of those built here!

The greatest thing that I've learned this year is the more expensive helmet that you buy....the better welder you become. You have to see the puddle to weld good. My son is a pro welder for a utility company and contends that any helmet under $500.00 is junk. From my amateur position, I have found that any helmet under $150-200 you will never be a really good welder......my .02 cents worth

By the way I recommend the "spider carts" arachnid. It's a single seat cart ..... cause I don't want anyone sitting next to me!

I'm a self-taught, amateur welder (but, I practice a lot, a lot)
...& I agree with Da Flash

A low-cost welding helmet "may" protect your eyes from "flash burns" (basically a sunburn on your eye & it's Awful...just Awful)
...but, if you can't "see" (the puddle or the area in general) you end up with a crappy looking weld
...or even worse (you end up "way off" of "where" you're supposed to be welding)

Have a look around, this place is "packed" with good "karting" info
...& some pretty kool/intelligent guys too
