well, this has to do with a boat instead of a go kart, but still similar.
I built a wooden 6' boat last summer...small enough to fit in back of the S10, still big enough for 3 people (can carry at least 500 pounds) However, it is very hard to row.
I tried a electric drill...simply mounted it under the boat and removed it's controls and ran wire from them to the motor. All I had was a 12x5 electric RC plane prop and while this could move the boat, it wasn't very fast and Im not sure how long the 550 motor will last with continuous use.
But, I still have a starter motor kicking around. Are they sealed, so that no water could get in? Id think I wouldn't have to worry about cooling...since it would be in the water. I figure id just do a on/off switch...how many amps is a starter motor likely to pull? Could I get at least 1 hour out of a deep cycle battery running a standard sized car starter motor?
Have not yet considered how I could mount a prop, but thought id get some input as to whether the motor would last at least a summer, how many RPMs it should turn and if it can run under water without any getting inside.
