I have just got a Funder Wheels go-kart for my son that use to be my girlfriends when she was young. It sat in a shed for 12 years so needless to say I had to replace the carb, the engine runs fine. Here's the problem, over that 12 year period all the springs magicly disappeared and the throttle was disconnected. I have no idea what springs or linkage I need or how to hook up throttle. Engine model is 80212 type 2124 code 90010233, Carb model number is 397939. The new carb is on its way so I have no pics of it but here are some of the engine. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff256/thgrahamjr/EnginePics001.jpg,

Why buy a new carb? Clean the old one! Only part that goes bad in these little briggs carbs is a $5 diaphram that you dont even need to remove the carb to swap.

Just run it ungoverned, hook the throttle directly to the carb, remove any linkages still on it.

Well I had the carb rebuilt, new diaphram, gaskets, needle and spring but that did no good. The carb soaked in acetone for 3 days before the rebuild to clean all the jets, after that and the rebuild the engine would not start without priming the carb and then it would run until it burned that gas up. So I purchased a new carb but that is not the problem, to what you said about hooking it direct how do I do that and what springs do I need?

Was the carb blown out with compressed air? Whats the needle set at? Could it be that the current lack of throttle linkage is holding the throttle open too far or the idle screw is set too low? Carburetors do not "go bad" in a situation like this.

The needle valve screw is set 1 1/2 turns out from close, as for the throttle, would that have anything to do with the fact that it will only idle with the throttle wide open? Once I close the throttle to the odle position it shuts off, could there be a vacuum problem or something else? I know the throttle idle screw has to be set but the engine should do more than just idle when the throttle is wide open correct?
