#35 chain master link too small?

Hi guys,

I'm having an issue with the laster links for a #35 chain on my mini bike. After a couple wrecks (wife & daughter), the master link came out. I've bought 2 different sets of replacements (master links, not chains) and they fit perfect with the exception that the rods aren't long enough to install the spacer and the retaining clip.

The bike has a predator 212 with a 12T front / 70T rear sprocket. I've been using a clutch on it with no issues at all until we lost the master link that came with the chain. The chain doesn't look like a cheapo so I'm thinking it's slightly beefier than most and that's why I can't install the master link with the spacer and retaining clip. And if I leave the spacer off, it'll throw the retaining clip off within 5 or 10 mins.

Anyone know where I can get master links with slightly longer rods? I'd rather not replace the chain if I can avoid it.

Definitely A #35-HD

Truth be told despite being HD you'd be better off swapping to a #420 chain set. When the clutch inevitably burns out (there is No IF in the matter) snag a Tourqe Max10t clutch, a 50t for the wheel and a new chain.

#35 is not a very good chain, HD or not

It is a lighter chain for sure, but probably ok for a mini bike.
it yer constantly having to adjust the chain cuz it stretches, replace it.
A mini bike with a little 80cc sure, but a 212? I'm gonna have to disagree having put a 212 on a Colman CT200U-EX and having it nearly take off out from under me in an immediate wheel stand by under estimating the throttle response the first go. Granted it was a Ducar 212 with a TC, but even the original anemic 196cc was already 420 chain equiped factory.

Thanks guys. This chain was on the bike when I bought it. I ride it a few times a week to exercise my dogs. I'm going to try the #35H master links.
