2017 - Bigwheel dirt bike - DNF

Ok I'm new to the site but not to building. I'm starting with a 84 Yamaha trimoto three wheeler and I'm gonna make a fat tire dirtbike. List of to do's include .
Custom swing arm
Jack shaft set up I might build this into the swing arm
6.5 HP engine
Torque converter
Build a rear hub
Paint and custom lighting
Recover seat
Make a rear fender

Got a small update. I was reasearcing these big wheels and my frame was not ideal because I't didn't have rear suspension, the frame was to far back and was to low to the ground so time to cut it up and make it right. I also cut the plastic, recovered the seat and powder coated and mounted the rear tire. You can see it compared to the red ATC big wheel the frame was way to far back. Now the frame will be close to the back of the front fender.

Spent hours grinding off old welds but I got it tacked up the way I want and now there is room for a swing arm. I wanted to do more but all star game time.. More to come soon.

Got the rear fender made up. Its made from two Murray mower fenders spliced and welded together. Tomorrow I will get it mounted up.

Not the prettiest but the rear hub is done other than cleaning and powder coat.

I have bearings on the way for the rear hub. After I get that and the axle worked out then I will be moving onto the swing arm. I picked up last week feet of 2"x1" 11 gauge tube.

Did a little more. Powder coated the front wheel and the rear hub. Also got new bearings in both. I did some trimming to the rear fender and I still think its to long I also picked up some Kawasaki kx65 side plates and did a lot of trimming to get the to fit and look OK without cutting them up.

Got some time today so I built most of the swing arm. Still have to notch out for the axle and make chain tensioners.

Ok today I notched out the rear of the swing arm for the axle to go through. Some time in the coming week I plan to have the tensioners made and the swing arm capped off. He is a little mock up with the swing arm.

Man I wanna build one of these for trail riding!

To me the front end looks to have 0 rake, 0 trail? or maybe a couple degrees rake. Maybe okay for 3 wheeler. but for motorcycle i would think a little rake would give you better control\stability?

Once you have a rolling chassis i guess you could try and steer and see how it feels.

I agree completely. It does need more rake and that is something I will address once the rear end is complete. Thanks for the feed back!

I was looking forward to a nice fat tire bike build... now im going to have to build one instead....
