2004 envoy stopped running

my 2004 envoy with 86k miles stopped runnning with no warning at all? I was just driving and it just shut off, now it wont start or even click when i turn the key? its like completely dead. What could it be? I was thinking maybe ECM.

Maybe the alternator went out and the battery is totally dead?

My '03 Avalanche has done that twice to me.

Put a meter on the battery and see what it's at, should be a little over 12V.


Otherwise, maybe a fuse. Check the panel that's in the engine bay first, it's got the important stuff in it.

The battery is still good.

Interesting... I'd still go through the fuses. Otherwise it might be time to take it to a dealer.

Put a meter on the battery and see what it's at, should be a little over 12V.

To elaborate, 12.6V; 2.1V for each of the 6 cells.


You're going to have to do a little troubleshooting. You're going to need a wiring diagram and a test light, at a minimum. I would be looking at the ignition switch.
