Hi just bought a 1981 suzuki 50jr for dirt cheap, got it cheap cause it has some issues!! I don't have alot of knowledge on dirtbikes or small engines in general. But I has no spark, the wiring on it is a mess, they have speaker wire coming out of the flywheel/magneto, it turns over fine, seems like it has ok compression, they had the cdi off it and had some kind of ford motorsport plug cap on it, no wires running to the kill switch. Need help with a wiring diagram, what attaches to what, what kind of cdi I can use, if this one is toast, what I can use as a spark plug cap. Im such a newbie, so please spell things out for me. This site is amazing by the way, the post on here are so helpful, I work night shifts and ive been doing searches on here for different things all nights, very helpful.....

I would buy a used harness of ebay. Pull the cover and check out your stator and what they did inside.

Once you have the harness, then buy the cdi box for your bike. Then all you need is the wireing for the stator. Or if your stator is toast then buy on good used one on ebay. This would put you bike back to original. If they got your cdi box and wiring all hacked up. I would just start over. Sounds like Tweakers had your bike.

I would do a compression test first to see what condition your engine is in. No need to waste money right?

Also hook a test meter up to the wire coming out of the stator. See if you even have voltage coming out of the coil in the stator.

Go to lawn mower shop and ask for a screw on spark plug cap. The spark plug cap has a screw on the wire end. You just screw in on the wire and your done. Buy a few of them. They come in handi all the time.
