OK got swing arm and axle today from go karts r us after waiting 9 days and fined out the axle nuts are on back order i was going to take swing arm to be beefed up but wont welding on it weaken it?

ok got new swing arm and axle on the way going to take it up to a weld shop and have them beef it up some..... also if i put beefier shocks...lets say 750 with 3inc travel vs 450 with 3inc travel whats on there now would that help some or just give a stiffer ride? the kart sits dry at 425lbs?
