    5 Fixer-upper Go-Karts, could use some advice.

My spring break is coming up in a few weeks -- maybe i can re-start work then. One new added difficulty since my last post though is that I broke my leg in hockey, and I'll have a cast for 6 to 8 weeks. Hopefully I can still figure out a strategy to repairing this engine, otherwise it will have...

    5 Fixer-upper Go-Karts, could use some advice.

Sorry i havent posted for a while -- high school life, often with hockey, and other things, not a great time to mess around with an engine as well. Its still in my basement -- havent been taking good care of it, or being professional at all for that matter (oil's leaking out of it, so i've...

Well, i better drain it quickly then. Tomorrows shopping list: SAE30, gasoline, L head engine book (order online), etc. I'm making this way more complicated than it realy should be.

I'm taking a little break from the karts today, i've been having trouble with them all week (and i have a day off of school). Yesterday my friend and i took the kart with the working engine and drove it around, seem to do WAY better after the engines warmed up. Drove it down a HUGE hill (it was...

    5 Fixer-upper Go-Karts, could use some advice.

My friend and i took apart the filter casing and he think's hes found the carb (he's in shop class). But it's welded on, and were both completely lost on where to find it. Lots of these karts look really bad (bad frames, etc.) but we can't even get to that if these engines don't run. The only...

Thanks Blazkowiez. I've heard a lot about you. To re-iterate, i'm attempting to get both of the go karts running and working. I'm planning to hopefully get all of the tires inflated and working, the rust mostly off, the frame resprayed, and all missing bolts back on. On the kart with the...

Alright. Used WD40 on all wheels not off yet, to make it easier for later on. Still attempting to remove the cover off the left rear wheel of the go kart with no front wheels.

Here's the pictures of where I am currently: The carts in my garage The cart that starts The stubborn one with a bent rod, weird wheel nuts, and a seat thats part of the body kit. The confusing nut I can't figure out. I've tried using a socket wrench to no avail. In case it isnt...

    5 Fixer-upper Go-Karts, could use some advice.

A few questions: The rear wheels of my cart are difficult to get off. My left rear one has the transmission, brakes, and chain on it, so it's going to be difficult. The right rear tire i got the nut off, but for some reason, the wheel won't slide off as easy as the first one (nothing is...

How do I clean the filter? Half of it is pretty black, i took it out and washed it, waited til it dried, then put it back in. I'm pretty sure that could be easy to replace if it was really bad. So I pretty much have all the screwdrivers and wrenches i need, but i need some new spark plugs, a...

    HELP! Cannot display page!

I got home this afternoon to see what to do with my Go-Karts (5 fixer uppers) and I can't view anything here. I can view what threads there are, but i cant view the posts. I can't go to private messages or edit my info. (Yes I am logged in). For some reason though, I can start a new thread. I've...

Yeah I probably should've figured out that carb is short for carburator by now. 3 1/2 car garage (very disorganized) , 3 cars, 4 mountian bikes, 1 sixteen HP riding lawnmower, hockey sticks, tennis raquets, trash cans, lots of other assorted items, and lots of very dusty, unused, tool cabinets...

So do I have to take the engine off the frame to reach the carbs? (which i assume is carburetor), because i'd have to spend a bit of time finding my other socket's with 7/16" in order to disconnect it.

Sorry, I uploaded them to imageshack. Any good way to bleed the gas, other than tipping the motor upside down? Do I have to unhook/take apart the motor to clean the carbs? I assume i'll have to for the filters.

I'm the most impressed by you, let me just point out. 7th grade and you know more than i ever think i can? (sorry for creeping). Wow, if anybody can grow up to be an amazing engineer, its you. Nah, you're not missing something. My dad did fundraisers for companies and bought the go-karts as a...

    5 Fixer-upper Go-Karts, could use some advice.

Six years ago, my hockey team had a party with 5 Go-Karts, and at 9 years old, you can well assume we didn't treat them very well. After a day of destruction, my dad put them in a trailer and put the trailer in the forest below our house. Last weekend, I asked my dad to bring up the trailer, to...
