Needing advice for honing a connecting rod.

@Thepartsguy Yup, I ordered a pair from OMB. And thanks for the suggestion, sorry I got you name mixed up lol.

Needing advice for honing a connecting rod.

It honestly amazes me how simple older tools were, yet how precise they could be. I got an old set of tools from my great-grandfather after he passed, and I've got some old rachets and whatnot that honestly feel nicer than what I see today. Also @Master Hack thank you so much for letting me know...

Needing advice for honing a connecting rod.

@RLS_Underground I figured you could do something like this, and if it was only a couple thousandths off I would've tried it. I would be worried about ruining the rigidity of the rod. Also @Thepartsguy, can you send me a link to that? If they've still got some for sale I'll get one today lol...

Needing advice for honing a connecting rod.

Sorry for responding late, I've had the rod for a little while now and it's past the return date. I'll probably just use the stock rod, I don't plan on running the engine much past 5k rpm's anyways. ARC has a billet one for $70 if I do upgrade, and I bet that getting mine honed would be roughly...

Needing advice for honing a connecting rod.

Right now I'm finishing up a basic 5hp Briggs flathead build, and one of the parts I replaced was the connecting rod. I got a Raptor 3 rod (Briggs part #555208), and I made the mistake of not realizing that it's designed for a 0.020" ground crank. I saw that they can be honed out to the factory...

    Predator flywheel on flathead Briggs?

Checked out the mower, it's a OHV Briggs 300e series engine so I highly doubt it'd work. @RLS_Underground Thanks for the info, I figured all Honda clones were essentially the same engine, just with varying quality. And my original plan was to get a Predator and do some stuff to that, but due to...

    Predator flywheel on flathead Briggs?

@G.W I've thought about that too, I assume I would need a bracket to relocate the coil? Also can they hold up to rpm? I read something on the Bob's Karting forum (linked below) that some folks could turn about 8500 without breaking a sweat so I assume running at 6000 for an extended period would...

    Predator flywheel on flathead Briggs?

So I'm probably gonna sound like an idiot for asking this, but will a flywheel for a 212 Predator fit on a 5hp flathead Briggs? My buddy had an old 5 horse sitting under his porch which he gave to me, so I have no clue as to the history of the factory flywheel. That said, I've done some small...

Needing help with Flathead Briggs build.

I've seen some of the crazy things folks have done with flatheads (especially in the dirt oval world), but I agree, I'm not trying to build some 9k rpm race motor. I kept the factory governor gear and whatnot so I may just put it back together and sell it. Thankfully where I live Predators are...

Needing help with Flathead Briggs build.

I've thought about it, it's just a big chunk of change. That being said though I'm pretty partial to my leg. I also thought about selling what I've got and switching to a Predator 212. I know you can get cast aluminum flywheels for those around 40 bucks, and the rest of the part prices are...

Needing help with Flathead Briggs build.

So a buddy of mine gave me a old Briggs 5 horse that he had sitting under his porch, and I decided to put it in a minibike frame I had. However, I found out that at some point the governor got deleted. I plan on building this thing to be something of a cruiser, so the rpm's would sit around 4k...

    New to the forum.

@Denny Lol, guess I never heard of y'all. Then again back when I started I wasn't much of a forum guy. Over the years I've found them to be pretty useful.

    New to the forum.

Good afternoon, I'm new to the forum and figured I'd say hello. I've been working on go karts since 2015, and I needed some help with a recent minibike project so I figured I'd join the forum. It's nice to meet you all!
