So if I understood you correctly, the caliper is being blocked from moving side to side in its bracket, resulting it it not being able to fully clamp down on the rotor. So I just need to free it by grinding off the weld and making a more smooth bracket?

Yea a friend didnt think it should be moving so much so he tried welding it down before checking the metal and after he tried he realized its not steel. And Yea I didnt have the right connection on the end of the brake cable so welding it was the only option.

Quick question for ya, #40 #41 and #420 chain are all quite similar if I'm not mistaken, but #35 is slightly different then them. Does this mean that if I have my axle sprocket as a #35 chain 72t sprocket, and a #420 chain 10t clutch sprocket, with a #420 chain on it, will it function properly...

This sounds the best idea in my opinion as well. The only problem is that almost all 72t sprockets that I can find are 35 chain, meanwhile i have a 420 chain that fits the 10t sprocket. Is there much of a difference between the teeth to warrant getting a 35 chain 10t sprocket and a new 35 chain...
