i went scrapping and i got about 40 ft of galvanized fence post its about 1 1/2 inch diameter, was wondering if it would be strong enough to use as a go kart frame
i have a 5hp flathead but the block has bushings machined for the crank which im skeptical about. how would i put bearings in if thats even possible for this block. just building a mild engine nothing too crazy.
thank you all very much. ill get the test results up tomorrow. is harbor freight rod any good? seems to be the only place i can find 7014 in 1/16th diameter.
i would do it now but its time to go nighty night for me. will 6013 be ok for a go kart though? its not like a serious dune buggy more of a yard kart. hopefully i can get some more welds done tomorrow and ill put up some pics. what makes u guys think its just on the surface? just curious
using 6013 rods, i dont think they make 7018 1/16 inch rods but i could be wrong, i know ive never seen them though. ill probably pick some more rods up tomorrow, someone bought my kart for 250 so i can get steel too.
im out of electrodes again:mad2: i can only use 1/16 or 5/64, the hf 70 amp welder just can't do 3/32. ill be getting the wheels for the kart saturday though, theyre from a suzuki lt250r.
just need someones opinion on my welds. about to build a kart from scratch and just wanna make sure my welds wont fail. im using a harbor freight 70 amp stick welder.
this is my first post here:wai:. this is the go kart in question. it looks homemade to me but i really have no idea so if someone could help that would be awesome.
