Almost done, the Bird, Lotus is coming together. New rubber and fresh painted wheels.

I don't think the linkages are any smoother, but this should help stop rust build up and wear. Yes "Grease Nipple" is a much better term.

Bird Chassis appears to have been drilled for Grease Zerts, but none were ever installed. So I reamed out the holes just a touch with a 3/16" bit and installed some self tapping grease fittings. this seems to have worked well.

Bird, Lotus, Chassis Here are a couple of pics of the engine mounted in the frame. Run tested the engine on a pallet today and it ran nicely. now I gotta finish the clear coat on the body, but i have to wait a few more days for base coat to set up.

Bird,Lotus, Kart Build A shiny, running, Clinton 3 1/4 HP to go into the Lotus Kart. New Clutch and new OEM air filter element. Had to replace side case main bearing and seal.

Set body on frame today, to work on body mounts. Also installed new Brake linkage, as the original had been replaced with a cable.

So, I did wash down the frame with petrol. What I found was that the true base color of the metal frame work was " Machinery Gray Gloss" or its equivalent, the silver had been added by PO. Frame sanded and in prime now, Fiberglass body also repaired and in primer. still have a couple extraneous...

I am getting ready to repaint the frame on a 1965 Bird Lotus/Indy style cart, the top of the frame is silver but the underside is Gloss battleship grey. Was Bird so cheap as to only paint the top of the frame? many of the similar carts I have seen are silver but I am thinking that this one was...
