    Starting a suspension Kart

Lovely cad work there, wish I could produce drawings like that. If you can get hold of the new Haynes book build a sports car on a budget. Why not take a look at the suspension set up on these for ideas. Use a library if needed to read the book, there was also an older version that may be out...

    Home made,

I have got a link to a .mov file from when I took it to work today. Be warned it is presently 9.1 meg for 45 secs worth, will try to shrink when I find the correct programme to use. The link is: - http://www.tamarisktechnicals.co.uk/images/kart/kart.mov...

    Home made,

Managed to set something up tonight and take some pictures so here goes. no1 shows a plate in the vice which has been set up at 15 degrees so it is more prominent and easy to see. no2 is just a top view showing how any hole bored through the plate would be at the vice angle. no3 is with vice...

    Home made,

I have been unable to set up in the workshop what I tried to say in the previous post, spent much of the time with brush and shovel cleaning up and ran out of time. I have taken a picture looking at the front axle and hope this gives a better understanding. The unfortunate thing is it shows up...

    Home made,

Hi I suppose it is reasonable easy to get the angles if you have a mill and an adjustable vice to set the number of degrees you want. If not then the task may be difficult. The plate the axle bolt goes through was set over at an 8 degree angle and drilled through with an end mill near size...

    Home made,

These are two snaps of my home made kart. Still having some issues finding anywhere to ride. Up to now tried 4 farms and got a no from them. Took it out of the garage today to help clear some space, and decided to take some snaps with the new camera. If it runs OK, I may get a modern engine...

    bicycle cables for karts

I have used them for both, throttle and brake, although the brake does end up at a motorbike handle on a hydraulic set-up. With a kart that weighs 100kg and me on it (100kg) I can lock up the back wheel on gravel and dirt. Time will tell if I manage to snap it. Adrian

    Lawnmower engine build

Yes I see the steering links now!. I thought I was looking at part of the swinging arm previously, hence the question. Thanks for that. Adrian

    Lawnmower engine build

I am puzzled, looking at the front of the kart at the suspension and steering set up. What are you using to transfer steering from the column to the front wheels? I saw one picture with a rigid bar, but I have assumed that was for the sake of the picture to keep the wheels straight. I am...

    Will this work?

If I get this correct, 40 teeth on the engine shaft to 12 teeth on the clutch will mean that for every 1000 revs of the engine the clutch will be doing 3333 revs. As clutches will try to bind and transfer power at around 1500 revs, you need a tick over of less then 400-500 rpm on the engine...

    Rectifier?

Just a thought, if you try the B&S website http://www.briggsandstratton.com/display/router.asp?docid=78484 Hope the link works they seem to list owners manuals and electrical diagrammes for their engines. There is a search option to put the model number in and try and find information...

    Hi from UK

Found the group and forum just now and glad to see there are like minded people around. I have built a type of off road kart at home but struggling to find a suitable place to ride it. Tried to build it for all ages from 5 to 50 in mind with adjustable pedal positions. As mentioned in the...
