They get rid of the balance shaft in the engine for several reasons. Cut down on windage, less drag and rotating mass. But you get to rebalance the engine. It still will be a little rougher though.

Get rid of that cheap belt (low quality) and get a Genuine Comet Belt!!! It is common for belts to eat through those covers. Not much you can do about that.
