OK, this sounds like an excellent way to go. Should I end up investing in hydraulic brakes or should I just have a disk brake. Is the hydraulic THAT much better? Also, I am almost finished drawing up my plans and I'll post another thread soon with all the drawings on it.

I was just going to use a hydraulic disk brake. Do you have any idea how much the arachnid weighs?

Can you explain to me how the actual TC works?

I think I'll end up investing in a TC then... Any suggestions keeping in mind budget but also performance? Will the go kart be belt drive then if I do?

This is just the planning stage. I have an engine that I am buying, it's a twin cylinder 4-stroke engine and its over 20hp. I am not sure the exact specs of the thing yet but I should ave it by tuesday and it is only costing my $100. And FYI it does run... not sure how well yet but a little work...

I was kind of thinking that I could literally just take the chain off one sprocket and move it to the other. I would have the duals sprockets on the clutch lined up with two sprockets on the rear axle and I could take the chain of and put it back on whatever sprocket I needed.But I do understand...

Ok, but if I want to really boost the top speed, could I go down to say a 12-60T for a 1:5 ratio. What is the ratio and why is it so important? Really sorry for this, but I am new to this kind of in depth engine and go kart kind of stuff and I am really quite interested.

I am not sure yet but I am thinking 12-14" dia. So if I can find a 12 tooth clutch, what do you think would be my best bet. Should I just stay with a single sprocket clutch?

Ok, what do you think would the lowest I should go for the axel sprocket?

Sorry, I forgot to mention some vital info. Lol :oops: ... I was thinking that i could have the a chain tensioner for each sprocket and switch the chain from sprocket to sprocket to fit the situations needs.

Also, I will be getting a dual cylinder, 4stroke, 25 hp engine, can anyone tell me approximately what the RPM will be on it?

I am presently designing a plan for a go kart something like the Spiderkarts Arachnid and I was thinking that i would get a 10 tooth dual sprocket centrifugal clutch on it and put two sprockets on the rear axel. One 15 tooth for a really high top speed and one 50 tooth for really good torque...

Is that for purely the cost of just metal? I have been doing some research online and found that I can get 80ft of 1x1" square tubing for under 400$ And can anyone help with the thread issue?
