well I was refering to the handling not the speed. If you have the engine above the back wheel like mine then it wouldn't be nice to corner with a heavy engine.

I am not sure why people thing 6hp is way too much. I used to have one of those 1.5hp engines and it was terribly slow, then to 3hp, then to 5hp and now to a lot more. It doesn't have to be scary, the extra power can make it more useable, the only factor is the bulkyness and weight of the engine

I don't want to sound negative but it sounds like a lack of maintenance ot me. A chain shouldn't get tight links unless it runs out of lubricant and then bind up. Having a jack shaft will help control your chain slop but shouldn't reduce the stress on it.

this was my old low powered engine so only 5hp or so, nothing crazy. I wasn't sure how quick I could go maybe 50km/h? (30mph). Now can you rephrase the question about the brakes? are you asking how they work or how well they work?

what size rear sprocket will you fit? I can't see you getting the right ratio without a reduction box
