    Electric motor based Dyno build

I did a bunch of research into home built dyno's. There are a lot of options and the simplest is probably something based on a motorcycle brake. For me though, I want something that can run continuously at 10kW or there abouts. I started playing with some numbers and a hydraulic based system...

Designing a connecting rod, I'd love some insights on how stock rods fail etc.

I'm trying to design a connecting rod for a GX200. My goal is to make a cheap'ish connecting rod that will do something like 8000rpm. I don't want to be as fancy as an Arc Racing rod, the cost for small batch production is too high. I need to limit the number of setups for machining but more...

Head porting for low end torque. Any advice? My project pictures attached

I'm trying to build a GX200 engine for low end torque. Aim is max RPM of under 6000. Stock cam and stock connecting rod. PWK21mm carb and free flowing exhaust. I'd like to change the intake to 27mm and exhaust to 25mm. I have very little porting experience so I'm not sure what to carve and what...

GX200 replacement crankshaft with cheap sintered cam gear, anyone tried?

Has anyone used one of these before? I'm not sure sintered is the correct term. They seem to be magnetic but not as hard as the cut steel gears. They seem to me like they would be great with nylon cam shafts, but who would want those on a good engine, but would wear quickly with high CR engine...

    Cheap aluminum flywheels from Amazon

I have a bit of experience with these flywheels so I thought I'd share that. I'm not saying use or don't use them. Here is an example of what I mean. Should be lots of sellers with the same thing https://www.amazon.com/Flywheel-10krpm-Predator-NonHemi-Aluminum/dp/B0BW3V7LRM It's a cast...

High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

Hi Everyone, I'm a relatively new engine builder. Relatively means I've blown up 3 or 4 engines... My current setup is: GX200 Decked Block (0.8mm) Flat top piston GX160 Head (mildly ported, removed sharp edges and increased bowl size to match 27mm intake valve) 27mm intake 24mm exhaust Stock...
