Your car sits on the springs keeping them compressed. Movement is what wears a spring. Slowly, but its still a form of work hardening. Sitting relaxed or compressed dont matter.

Sounds like a dirty IAC. They can be carefully cleaned.

That pic came from the link he provided. I was just pointing out the note about the washers. In any case they are just to space things out properly. Different CVT so that pic is irrelevant. Use washers as spacers as need for proper belt alignment.
