    Bird Engineering Starbirds

JT, You were correct, my cart is a Bird Engineering Starbird. After researching some, I found they were built in Nebraska by the company that built the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile. LOL By the way, the bar you spotted on the back of mine is nothing but 2 PVC elbows and a length of pipe painted black...

NEWBY, and of course I have questions

Denny, Thanks for the recommendation. It will stay the way it is for now, but I can see it will need several upgrades in the near future. I would like to upgrade the brakes, the clutch system to something like you mentioned. Right now the drive is right over the tire that drives a sprocket that...

NEWBY, and of course I have questions

Thanks everyone for the responses. I am going to listen to the experts and drop the idea of the Honda motor. I agree, the exhaust on that model would be dangerously close to the rider. I picked up a 212 Predator motor today. I figure I will be money ahead because everything is bolt on and near...

NEWBY, and of course I have questions

Denny and QTband, (and anyone else fallowing) I set the engine on the cart today, and I agree that it will be easier and cheaper to get the Predator motor. I think I will get the 212 Predator, the only worry I have is will it be too large (fast) for my young grand kids? Right now I have a 11/60...

flyfrog, I'm not sure at this point if it is even worth shipping anywhere. I have a friend that works on small engines, I was going to have him take a look at it.

Professor, I had to go to the garage and look. That shaft is what pull cord would be attached to. , PO took the shroud off, along with all the head bolts etc. I assume it is trashed, that is why I am hoping to use the Honda motor I have. Jim

Thanks for the response. I did not even notice that wording down there, but I have seen it on other pictures I have posted on other forums. Not the same words, but something goofy like that. It must be attached to the pictures after I do the post image thing.

I looked at that today, and I think you are right. I was hoping to find a real tight 90 degree bend pipe with a flange to mount, then fab a mesh cage over that for protection. I'm not sure it will work though. That is what I have been researching today. What parts places have the best...

NEWBY, and of course I have questions

HI, I just picked this kart up (free) and I want to put it together for the grand kids. Motor is shot, but I have a 5hp Honda (not a clone) from a discarded pressure washer that looks like it will work, it is virtually the same size. Can anyone help me out with a make on this cart. I think...
