Did you put your arm out? It was a little hard to see. Just a word on that, which may not be so obvious to everyone: don’t put your hand out trying to stop a roll over or to “break your fall”, that usually results in a broken wrist, broken arm or worse. Might not be as much of a problem with these little buggies of yours but it is with the bigger ones.

I haven’t researched it but the product liability lawsuits for the Honda Odyssey FL250s back in the day must have been horrendous. The first Odys had a partial roll cage (the yellow ones), then the red ones had a full(er) one, but both versions of FL250 I think had wrist straps to trap your hands on the steering wheel to prevent injury. Both had 4 point harnesses, of course.

Yes, I did put my arm out. My initial reaction was to throw my leg out but the side bar prevented it. I was somewhat aware that I didn't want that same bar to roll onto my arm. I guess i was just lucky it was low speed. I'm aware of wrist straps in other racing but not practical when there's no roll bar 🫣

I took this kart up into the hills. It was good, really good... up until it stopped 😔

Just before the ride I changed out the steering rack for one a little more responsive. Old one was 1.5 or 1.75 turns full travel (i can't remember which). The new rack is a direct fit and only 1 turn full travel. Feels much better.

The ride started out so comfortable. The bigger wheels, the plush suspension was impressive. The problem - the electronics box under the steering wheel, i forgot to latch it closed... with all that water splashing around it started filling up with water. Then the accelerator became inactive. I still had power to the display and the controller was making error beeps but no accelerator.

I was a few kilometres from the ute, I pushed it a ways then some passing 4x4's let me hitch a ride. Using my belt i tethered the kart to the back of the 4x4. During the travel the kart would bump the back and ended up breaking the accelerator pedal which is plastic.

I haven't diagnosed exactly what's wrong with it yet. I just packed up and went home. But it was good for the 10min of runtime that I got... 😄

2 of my 3 karts are out of action now. Last time I went out with my brother. The brake pads on his kart were wearing thin (my fault for not keeping an eye on it). Ended up rubbing metal on metal and he was pushing the brake pedal so hard it blew the seal in the brake cylinder. Parts on order but haven't been delivered yet.

There's always something... 🔧 🛠
