This is the picture off Ebay of the motor I'm going to put on it. It would be a little trouble to go dig it out and unbox it. So I'm just using this. This is IMG_6890.jpegthe guy I bought it from. He had three. So that may or may not be mine. But heck, They were all three the same. LOL. I'm not a purest but I'll probably be keeping an eye out for a more correct time frame motor for it. I grew up on the L-Head or flat head engines so I am kind of more fond of them any way. But this like most of my projects is just for fun. I don't worry about being able to sell and make money. That's what jobs are for. I don't have to please no body but myself. But I can be a hard customer sometimes.

Oh, I thought you had a period correct/retro engine for it not a modern OHV. According to the advert I saw, the "Tom" Scat Cat 114 was available with 3, 4 and 5 HP engines so that's pretty amazing for the time period.

Are the wheels you're getting originals?

Does that engine have a water pump attached to it?

Try a small hammer and punch on the rusty parts of your handlebars before you send them for chrome. They look kind of scary in those lower bends.

They do like original. They have been rechromed though. No whitewall on the tires. Tread may be close. He didn't prove a good picture of it. Wish I did have a NOS '70s engine to put on it. I'm liable to come up with something. I could still use this motor for the little goKart I'm building.

Yes it does have a water pump on it. I have another engine with the same pump on it. That pump is bad. This pump is going on it.

Looks like those engines have threaded shafts. Might be tricky, but you can handle it.
Yes. It does have female threads. You see that as a possible problem? Maybe a weaker shaft? I had thought about that. I'm going to fill it with a grade eight bolt. Not sure if that would be needed But that should provide the strength just in case. Anything else I'm missing about that?

What I have learned from it is they don't make cheap Chinese bikes like some people think.

Right, Taiwan is a republic and long time US ally and they have a totally different culture there in contrast to mainland Chynuh; maybe that just refers to their manufacturing due to US influence but they make some of the best tools and their “metallurgy” is top notch. EDIT: They are sort of like a mini Japan imo.

Looks like a Scat Cat.
I’m gonna pay more attention to SuperBlazer, the guy knows his $#@* :cheers2:
