Gearing is too high, hard to start for sure! but moves ok, after initial start up while pedaling.

hi, I built a tricycle out of two fat tire bikes. I wanted it to be electric powered with working pedals. I tried a 36V front DD hub motor, but it is too high geared to start the bike from a standstill, it just keeps cutting out when I push on the throttle. I was thinking a wheelchair...
