Didn't expect this many questions about my lack of a roll bar

Neighbors and family are starting to see our finished go kart. First question every time is "where's the roll bar?" None of the karts seemed to have them when I was a kid. You guys get this a lot? (For you non roll bar folks)

    Hi from South Texas!

Welcome! New here myself. This was a diversion into down scale for me as well. I have 2 old VWs, guess it's a thing for air cooled rear engines, tinkering, for which the old cars just seem better for...

    Noob with wheel spin

Well, no more wheel spin. A little more runway before the ascent did the trick. Now, I'm trying to get the front wheels aligned properly. The tie rod threads are crap.

    Noob with wheel spin

:D Well, I guess we'll give it another shot this evening. I've wondered if my welding skills were so bad that maybe my 4 wheels don't sit level with one another to the point that the powered wheel is sitting a little too high? And then, I wondered if I need to adjust the throttle further...

    Noob with wheel spin

I can't remember the brand, I bought it from BMI. They're pretty knobby and brand new. I'll take a pic later and post when I can.

    Noob with wheel spin

So we just finished our first build. I ordered parts according to the plan I bought. We have a lot of wheel spin in wet/thick grass and in loose mulch. And initially we had some clutch smoke. I oiled the clutch per the instructions on a YouTube channel. I screwed in further the little set screw...

Father Son project - in Atlanta

I bought the "plan" from Spider Carts after a web search. The word plan in quotes because I discovered there was much not included in the instructions. I'm not knocking it, just reporting my experience in case someone reads this later during research. ---------- Post added at 09:24 AM...

Yeah, figured my son will mainly ride it. He's younger and his body can take it. :-) ---------- Post added at 05:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 PM ---------- Any places in Atlanta to ride? I just planned to take it up into the mountains to ATV trails...

Father Son project - in Atlanta

Greetings! Excited to find this forum. My son and I wanted to improve our virtually nonexistent welding skills on something fun. Having a go kart as a kid made me the tinkering car nut I am today. We live in the Atlanta area. We've done a lot of work to our old cars, usually just figuring...
