500 watt my1020 motor too weak to push cart in grass

10" tires are kind of big. Harbor freight sells those red tire/wheel combos for about $7 each. The tires are about 9" and narrow with good tread for grass.

    Tadpole Trike E-Kart

Trixe E-kart WITH VIDEO! doesn't require push start. It's not the original controller, anyway. I finished the build last night. I'm going to let him ride it this summer/fall then painting over the winter. Here's a short vid of him driving in the driveway...

    Tadpole Trike E-Kart

I'm building this using the go-parts from a Razor e-300 electric scooter. Not much left to do except steering, front wheels, and electronics. It's for my 5-year old and I expect it to be pretty slow but I left room for upgrades as his talent builds.

    Reverse trike electric E-kart

Thanks! I only wish I could ride it. It's for my four year old boy. I was into modifying power wheels for a while but they're so limited in performamce and strength that I figured I'd just build my own. It spanks the razor go kart and the neighbor kids love the tadpole configuration. I'm trying...

    Razor GF Build Initial Questions

You could put a potentiometer in line with the throttle wires. I know modified power wheels.com has a how-to. I personnaly used a pulse width modulator with a potentiometer to govern speed. Its not variable by throttle input but who.goes any speed but top speed anyway?/you can up the power...

My first project/ I know nothing

Have fun figuring out steering! Better off buying a used electric scooter on craigslist, get new batteries, and have a blast.

    Help with wiring diagram

Electric scooters are a good thing to look at when building a light duty kart. Most of the parts will carry right over to a 4 wheel kart. I, for example, started with a 250w 24v scooter, hacked off the back half, and welded it the front half of the "itzy bitzy" frame for which free plans are...

    Reverse trike electric E-kart

The kart is now fully operational.....after finally using my insomnia productively to work on it last night. I've got a Pulse width modulator with a potentiometer to govern speed. The PWM has a soft start feature that only works when it goes from off to on. I cleverly used a relay powered by one...

    Reverse trike electric E-kart

The seat actually came off a feber battery powered 2 seater electric ride-on. I notched one to fit the frame but later realized I didnt have to. So im using the other one. Theres an empty space behind the seat thats going to house the electronics and cable operated twist throttle. Once I put a...

    Reverse trike electric E-kart

Some more progress on the e-trike. It's a glorified rolling chassis but I connected one of the 12V batteries to the motor and let the kid tool around a bit at about 7mph. I'm going to add a bumper, a roll bar, and side rails to finish up the chassis then add pedals and electronics.

    Reverse trike electric E-kart

You can knock electric karts but you can't argue with their upsides. They've got full tourqe from zero rpm Theyre quiet and less likely to draw negative attention while driving on the road. They're clean Theyre cheap and easy to work on and modify

    About power wheelchairs...

Most power wheelchairs are slow because they're geared super low so that they can carry pretty hefty people without bogging or burning out. If you changed the gearing and used the stock electronics in a lighter frame, you could get it going pretty good.
