Yeah, so I pulled it a couple of times and then took off the side of the carb with what you call the "diaphragm", I suppose. What does this thing do? It has a spring behind it, and two little tabs, I guess one to let gas in, what does the other do? Also, why is there 2 tubes coming going into...

Thanks. We'll try the gas-in-cylinder action. The reason the wire is so long is because the old one (with huge rubber coating) came undone and this was the only wire we had around. I didn't feel like cutting it because it's just temporary. :) Thanks for the tip.

Hey. This engine worked fine 7 years ago, says the guy i got it from. the shaft was rusted, all moving parts were rusted pretty much. I've got them all moving. i replaced the spark plug. good compression. It still doesn't start! Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o6quV5G9Lc...

thanks man. I live in Connecticut (not many go kart enthusiasts out here...no frames on craigslist or ebay). I actually just went to this mechanic who i kind of know. he actually gave me an engine for free...it's a 4hp briggs from like 1950. He said it worked like 5 years ago but now...

OK...well say I used square tubing 1/8" thick. Can I just bolt it (granted that I use a bunch of trusses) and always make sure everything is bolted tight before riding?

Ok then. Wings it is. Okayokay, so no wood. Yet no welding. Is it possible to buy angle iron and then just drill holes and connect with bolts? If so, what size angle iron should I get? 1"x1" 1/8" thick?

Wait, back on the topic of the engine, is there a way to just remove the shaft and replace it with a 3/4" one? Or is the shaft connected permanently to the crankshaft?

Can't really do metal...I don't have a welder and don't know anything about it really. I've heard about making a tensioner, but it would be much preferred to do chain (because I can't afford a live axle. I'm doing single wheel drive here with this thing and I don't see any pulley alternatives.
