Also I got 2 old alternators today for free. Theyre the kind where the regulator isn't built in, with the field coils tied to a seperate connection. Add a 12v 10a PWM controller and I have a variable voltage and current generator that's perfect for driving the final drive motor.

Man, truck generators are really hard to find! I visited 5 wrecking yards today and no one had any. I'll try a couple more tomorrow. Otherwise I'm going to have to figure out what else has powerful DC powered motors that can be found cheap.
