The bowl is on correctly, and the float is adjusted correctly. With the help of landuse's post, I managed to find a diaphragm carb that will be a perfect drop-in replacement. Will be purchasing and replacing soon. I'll post updates when I get the chance.
There is a sender in the bottom of the casing, with wires running up the back of the engine. Somebody said that oils sloshing around could trigger the sender and stop the engine, so as a precaution I simply cut the wire.
