I went out to the shop which is a little cool today and wire brushed the pumpkin which has 10 bolts by the way. The only marking was on the rubber filler cap and that said "Spicer" on it.

I've been looking at CVT units on eBay and noticed they all seem to have sprockets included in the kit. Anyone happen to know why the sprockets would be included? Could I just buy a driving hub to fit my engine shaft and buy a driven hub to fit my pinion shaft and then buy a belt to fit? Or...

Well, almost. I'm closer to the mountains than Mayberry.

I took the unit off the pinion and measured the stub, it is a 3/4" splined stub I would like to join this with a 10 horse Briggs & Stratton horizontal engine. Could anyone steer me in the right direction to search for the correct drive unit? Or better yet: Can anyone tell me what year and Mfg...
